1. Get rid of those draughts
Unless you live in a new home, draught spots are very common. Invest in draught excluders for windows and doors – they can make a big difference to the temperature of your property!
2. Let the sun in during the day
The sun is a free natural source of warmth, so open up those blinds and curtains during the day – it’s far nicer than artificial light anyway.
3. Close the curtains at night
On the flipside, you will lose a lot of heat through your windows when the sun goes down. So keep the warmth by closing those blinds and curtains to insulate your home at night.
4. Keep it constant
Consider keeping your heating on a lower heat full-time as this can be more energy efficient than switching it on and off throughout the day.
5. Don’t forget to turn off
If you are leaving your house for a long weekend or holiday, make sure to turn off the heating and lights, and unplug electrical devices from their sockets
